About

Wednesday Nights at Grace, from 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM, brings together corporate prayer, Adult Christian Eduction, Youth Small Groups, and a children’s program.

Overview

  • Adults will spend time in worship and prayer, and then be in study.
  • Youth will, while it's light outside, play outside, but once it gets dark and cold early will join the adults in worship and prayer. After this time, they will go to their small groups.
    • These will, as they have, continue to run every Wednesday night, even when the semester ends, except for Holidays and cancelations due to weather.
  • A children’s program, offering teaching and activities for grades 1 through 6, and childcare  for nursery through toddler age, runs from beginning to end for these evenings.

SAFETY

All youth and children staff and volunteers are required to submit to a thorough third-party background check and participate in child-protection training.

Serve in the children's program

Our goal is to have enough folks so that individuals would only have to volunteer 1-2 times in a semester, thereby allowing attendance in the adult class for the other nights. We have had several people volunteer to help with the childcare (nursery - kindergarten), but we still need more help. If you are able and willing to help out, please email Jeremy Smith at,   .

Adult Christian Education

"Equipping the saints for the work of ministry." - Ephesians 4:12

The class for the Fall 2019 semester will be on the Inductive Bible Study Method of reading and interpreting the Bible. The elders are excited to further equip GBC with the skills to interpret and apply the Bible for themselves.

The format for this class will include instruction and workshop style exercises to practice the skills that will be taught.

Book to Be Used

Youth Small Groups

Fall through spring, the youth meet in small groups every Wednesday night from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the church (even when the other ministries are on break, except for holidays and weather cancelations).

Small groups are the primary “vehicle” for advancing the gospel to the youth. It's in this context where the truths contained in the Scriptures are both taught and applied. The small groups are divided into Junior High (7-8 Grade) and Sr High (9-12 Grade). By God's grace, the youth ministry has been blessed with tremendously gifted adult volunteer leaders who help lead these groups.

Children's Program

Childcare will be provided for Nursery - Kindergarten.

Children in 1st - 6th grade will be part of a children's program that will include verse memorization, learning catechisms (brief questions and answers about basics of the faith), games, and an emphasis on how each book of the Bible reveals God's plan of redemption through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Since both the memory verses and catechism involve memorization, we encourage parents to review these things with their children during the week. Additionally, if families are looking for a way to do family devotions, the curriculum we're using can also be used in this way, as it takes that week's catechism question/answer and does a very short devotion families can read each day (takes about 5 minutes).

Curriculum

(Note: While these topics won't come up for quite some time, we plan to handle the chapters on the 7th Commandment and the Lord's Supper/Baptism as consistent with our Confession of Faith.)
